Now this is not advice since I have no idea about your personal circumstances, and it's also not just because I'm writing a personal finance course, but now is an ideal time to increase your financial knowledge. There are special programs on the television telling us what to do with our money but they aren't always giving you the full picture. For example I was at a share trading course last weekend and the guy giving the course was talking about how you can make sure that you know your risk when placing shares, and how you can limit it. He also commented wasn't it strange that the pension fund managers don't seem to do this? I thought about and thought why don't they limit our risk - after all it's our money!

On the news the other morning (I know I should go back to not watching it but it fascinates me at the moment) the reporters were explaining how superannuation funds (pension funds to those of you not in Australia) have dropped significantly since the share market troubles in the USA. Then they had a special program to tell people how to cope with what's going on and how to survive it. They talked about budgeting, and as I waited, almost holding my breath (almost but not quite!) the reporter said that the top thing people absolutely must do is to put more money in their pension fund. Eerrrr the pension funds that you just said have dropped significantly???!!!

Now I know why they say this - it's because a lot of people haven't planned for their future and have no idea what to do. Unfortunately experts like this have no idea either. I keep waiting for someone to say go and get a financial education so you can look after your own money, but so far no-one has said that on television yet....

So I'm saying go out and get a financial education. Read books, do courses, ask people who are still making money how they are doing it and take responsibility for your own money. Seriously there are people making money even now - learn how to become one of them.

As I said I'm in the process of writing a successful personal finance course. No not another text book but a course about you and how you can become in charge of your money and so change your life. Look if I can do it anyone can! There will also be group coaching calls and possibly some one to one coaching as well with the course.
