We recently attended a Wealth Creator 2 day event in Adelaide. I thought that for A$99 a ticket that frankly it either wouldn't be very good and that it would just be one sales pitch after another. Wow was I wrong! I actually think they should have charged more... The speakers were Investor Finance, Martin Kidd from the Rewards Team (Mortgage brokers), Mark Rolton from Massland (Property Options), Leigh Barker (Tangible Assets), Carly C (Property Developing), Jody Ellis from Investor Centre, Neil from Camelot Derivatives, and Bill Ryan from Mastering Wealth (Share Options). The key note speaker was Chris Gray. Day One Investor finance went through a case study to show us what is possible when buying property, even though the economy is changing. Martin Kidd explained the Rewards Team, borrowing, the meaning of some mortgage terminology and what's available with borrowing.Even though the economy is not where most investors want it, it's still hold lots of opportunities and Martin was showing ways in which we can take advantage of them. Chris Gray then came along and put a completely different spin on things. He explained why he rents the house he lives in and yet still owns investment properties. Also how to make debt work for you and why everything possible should be outsourced. Outsourcing is not a new idea. You work out how much your time is worth and then out source any thing you can and get the experts to do it. Mark Rolton from Massland then spoke about property options - what they are, how you do them, why control is more important than ownership. We found this topic very interesting since this isn't done in the UK so it was new to us. However Adrian won 2 tickets to a one day seminar being taught by Massland so we are going to learn about it very soon. Here's a hint - when Mark asks for volunteers, or who wants to make A$100 in the next 5 minutes - make sure your hand goes up! Leigh Barker from Tangible Assets was the next presenter. It is so unsual to get someone who is an accountant and a mortgage broker who can give financial advice. He also spoke about owning nothing but controlling everything and the ways that this can be achieved. He spoke tax minimisation and estate planning. Now we've been to seminars on this kind of thing before and have been bored to death but that didn't happen with Leigh. He is a good speaker and obviously loves this topic bring it alive. Day Two Carly C was the first speaker and she was a one woman dynamo. The ideal speaker to get you going on a Sunday morning. She obviously has a passion for property development and we didn't realise that we had been speaking to some people the previous night, who had been on her course. She explained how property developing isn't just about building new houses and that there are various other aspects such as site finding, property options and gaining devlopment approval. Although we didn't feel that her course was for us right now we think it would give someone a good grounding in property in Australia. Jody Ellis from the Investor Centre spoke about the Australian stock market and it's 7 year cycles. He explained about the movement of institutional money and how that affects the market. He also spoke about guaranteed days where you knew how the market would react. He explained all this is a way that was easily understood. Chris Gray appeared again (allegedly with a hangover) but this time rather than just speaking it was an interactive workshop. He explained his decision making process and also suggested some ways to oursource work. Neil from Camelot Derivatives explained about their companies managed futures and options on the UK stock exchange. They basically do all the work for you. He explained some of the strategies the company uses to make money. Bill Ryan from Mastering Wealth finished off day two with another interactive session. He explained why they trade on the US Market, how the markets are driven, and how they can teach you how to trade or even do it for you. Peter Quilliam was the MC for the event and it was very well run. Karen actually said that she would have paid more for the information we learnt that weekend.
