This is the first book that really got across to me why I should be doing something other than the 9 - 5 job (JOB = Just Over Broke). Adrian tried to explain to me why we should be buying property but I came from a background where all debt was bad. Then I read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and played the game cash flow 101. I knew the difference between good debt and bad debt and we started buying property. This is book that Adrian and I read regularly every year because every time we read it we're at a different stage and so we get something different from it. Robert Kiyosaki grew up in Hawaii. His own Dad believed that you should go school, get good grades, go to university and get a job. However he also listened to his friend's Dad who was a business owner and had a very different way of looking at things. He gave Robert his financial education and teaches Robert and his friend how to make money work for them rather than them working for money. The book passes this financial education on to the readers. It amazes me that this book has been a best seller for so many years and still financial education is not taught in schools. If you ever want to be wealthy and hold on to it - read Rich Dad Poor Dad. Once you read it you'll also understand why most lottery winners end up broke. They do not have the financial education to hold on to their money and make it grow. ![]() ![]() ![]()
